To help you select the right dress, RashawnRose Prom have compiled
a few Tips that you should keep in mind when you begin shopping
for your prom dress
If you would like your bust to appear bigger but not un-natural
If you are small-busted and want to create curves, look for extras like ruche fabric on the bust to give you a shapelier look. Sew-in bra cups also works wonders. Tell your dressmaker about your concern and she can work with you to quickly make you into a B or C cup (without the extra pain or cost)
If you are concerned that your bust is too big and don’t want to show too much but still not cover up all the way -
You should definitely avoid dresses with plunging necklines. Instead, look for dresses with a more open shape, like a sweetheart or scoop neckline. Another great option: Halter-neck dresses are pretty and practical. The design leads the eye upward while also giving your chest extra support.
If you are concerned that your hips are too big! (Love your curves girl!)
But in the mean time consider an A-line or full-skirted ball gown.
If you would like your tummy to be flatten – Totally understand
Then let’s get you into an empire-waist gown. This will give you a long, slim look or try a corset-style bodice, which will shape your waistline while emphasizing your bust.
In your mind you may be thinking, “I’m too skinny”, but I say “work it girls!”
Just get into a sheath dress or create curves with an A-line dress. It’ll show off your slender frame while also creating the illusion of curviness with a fuller skirt.
You may not like your arms – there’s an answer for that.
Look for off-the shoulder necklines. See-through lace sleeves will also camouflage upper arms that aren’t super shapely. Look for a dress that has a sweetheart neckline, which will draw attention to your bust instead of your arms. You can also reach for that shawl if you have your heart set on a particular dress
What about the girls who think their booty is too big! – That’s simple
A strapless ball gown or any other full-skirted style will conceal your concern. Look for a corset-style or other type of fitted bodice. A slim waistline plus a flared skirt equals a sexy hourglass figure!
And finally, Oh Noooo – I’m not that size! Please ladies don’t worry about the size of the dress – Sizing can vary from designer to designer; there is no standard among them. Don’t be alarmed if the dress of your dream is a different size than you normally wear. What matters is that you feel comfortable and look fabulous, not the number on the tag. At the end of the day, you won’t feel comfortable in any prom dress if you don’t have the right fit
To avoid the sizing problem, we will start by measuring your bust, waist and hip. Then we will refer to the manufacturer’s size chart to determine the size you will need. If your bust measures 34 inches and your waist measures 26 and the size chart says a 34 inch bust equals a size 4 but size 26 waist equals a size 6, then please, please get a size 6.
Remember you can always have your dress taken in but you might not have enough fabric to have the dress let out.
